Actually finished a project!

So I actually started and finished a project tonight!  I sewed the ribbons and elastics on to my new pointe shoes.  I decided to give this a try instead of paying the lovely people at Spell's $12 to do it for me and it actually worked and wasn't that hard!
Here's the before picture.

 And after....
Ta-da! Yay!

And for any of my dancer friend's out there here's a good tip.  Line the heel of your shoes with moleskin.  It's about $3 for a package and keeps the elastics and other seams in the back of the shoe from rubbing your heel.

In other projects the very first project I started, a tote bag, is still  in progress.  It was going pretty well until I realized the strap I made was too short so I have given up on that project for a while until I learn how to better read patterns.  I'll get back to it eventually.

Well that's it for now, I'll continue to keep you updated on all my fantastic projects! Much love!

new hobby

Ok no that I need anymore hobbies in my life but I've decided to give sewing a try!  Over the last several years I've made way through several hobbies... scrapbooking, jewelry making, etc. but now I'm ready for a new hobby!  I don't have the slightest clue what I'm doing, the only sewing I've ever managed to do is to sew elastic on my ballet shoes but I'm going to give it a shot.  I made the first step today and purchased a sewing machine.
I found this one today at Walmart for $50 on clearance.  I love a good deal and I figure I don't want to invest too much if this whole sewing thing doesn't work out.  So for now I'm researching sewing patterns and plan to dive in Monday after I work this weekend.  We'll see what happens!

Jumping on the bandwagon!

Well here it is! I gave in to peer pressure and created my own blog! Well not so much peer pressure as I just became jealous of how cool everyone's blogs were so I decided to give it a try and make my own.  However just making it look cute has been more than I bargained for.  So for now I have used all of my creative energy to design this darn thing but I promise some more interesting posts to come but until then just enjoy the beauty that is my blog (especially the birdies on the chandelier)! haha! much love!
